Instructor: Jackie Vujcich

In this advanced beginner to intermediate class you’ll take a personal photo and translate it into a unique piece of artwork using fabric. In class one, we will discuss how to enlarge your photo and produce a pattern as well as fabric choices. In class two you’ll get to work on the quilt top. If you do the “homework” between classes, you may be able to complete the quilt top by the end of the second class if the size is reasonable (about 18” x 22”). Regardless of size, you’ll be well on your way! This class concentrates on making the fabric photo and we will discuss quilting at the end of class 2. I’ll share my thought process on what inspires me as well as the step-by-step process of how I go about creating stunning art quilts based on personal pictures/still life/landscapes/pets.

Photos: So that I can help you decide which photo is most appropriate, BEFORE class please send to me at coloradocreations@comcast.net the following:

2 to 4 personal photos (landscape, pet, still life. NO faces/portraits of people please as this is beyond the scope of this class) something that does not have too many details. Please respect copyright laws.

Once we decide on a photo, bring an 8” x 10” (approximate size) photocopy in both color and black/white to class. You will use these photos as working copies.

Important: You will need to contact Jackie (coloradocreations@comcast.net) BEFORE the 1st class so that she can give you feedback on your photo. Jackie encourages you to also sign up for the Photo Enhancement class.)

Note: We give a 15% discount on all class supply list items. Each time you attend a class your name will be placed in a drawing for a $25 Gift Certificate. Drawings will be held at the end of each calendar quarter.

Skill level: Advanced beginner or intermediate
